Keep Adequate Records!!!!

This is a boring post, but I felt it necessary to write it anyway! I work in Records, not as in "Empire Records, open 'til midnight", I mean Government records, boring records, but IMPORTANT records!!! Every week, I get 3 or 4 calls from people asking for their school reports. Now, many of you reading this would be around my age and may or may not remember that most of our school reports were hand written...which would indicate that they were a one off document. Even if they weren't, it may come as a suprise to you that these records are not permanent and are destroyed after a given period of time (not having a General Disposal Schedule close at hand, I can't give you the exact figure). I guess, what I am trying to get at is, think twice before you ditch that pile of papers! If you decide to go to TAFE or Uni, join the armed forces or the police, they may want to see them and it is solely up to you to maintain these records!!!
It doesn't matter how dire your situation is, nobody is going to be able to make them appear if they have been destroyed. The amount of people that say "But I need them to join the Army!" when I tell them that school reports are the individuals responsibility, is amazingly high! These people think that by saying those words in a pleading voice, I'll be able to magically pull their entire school history from a secret drawer under my desk! Sorry folks, adequate records management is your responsibility!!!! Investing in an expandable file, is an investment in your future!!!! :-)

Now, just need to work out a way to get my manager to read my blog, then I might get a promotion for my passion on the topic!

Beers, Bunnies and Cackle Berries

Well, my Easter weekend was fantastic! It kicked off on Thursday night, when we headed down to my folks place at Strath for dinner and a catch up with my "Brother from another Mother" Matt. Next morning, we set off for Deep Creek, accompanied by our good friend the GPS, telling us where to go and only getting slightly distressed if we didn't obey her! We arrived at Deep creek, and set up our tent with a view across Backstairs Passage to KI, stunning! The mob were playing a new ball game that they had made up, which we soon got the hang of and joined in. Later that night, we all partook in the Easter beer hunt. I had a good success rate, finding 6 beers. Nice! I went to bed shortly after. Beer hunting make Annie sleepy!
The next day was more ball sports and a trip to boat harbour beach, where a few of the guys got in touch with their inner Robinson Crusoe and built a raft from driftwood and rope, found on the beach. There was also some mini golf and cable tossing going on down there too.
That night, we did a glow stick hike. A few of us ended up hiking further than first intended due to the group breaking up a bit, I suffered some pretty spectacular bruising due to a short trip over a rock! It was all good fun though!
On Sunday, we packed up after a bit of a sleep in and headed off to Goolwa for dinner with the church mob. After setting up tent, and having a quiet drink at the ironing board, we partook in some more ball sports (yep, I used to be scared of balls! I am making progress!) however I was slightly impeded by a 7 year old who decided I was her new favourite thing! I was a bit hesitant to go diving for any balls for risk of mowing her down!!!
My folks came down to join us for dinner, which was nice. After dinner, more ball sports, skipping and general running around (I now understand why grown ups were so adverse to giving me whizzies when I was a kid!) then as things quietened down, a little circle of fold up chairs formed in the middle of the oval and a few of us of varied ages sat and chatted for a while. When the numbers had died down sufficiently, 4 of us nicked off in the car and played 5 rounds of "lock on". Lock on makes Annie sleepy too! We soon retired and headed back to camp!
The next morning, shortly after breakfast, we packed up once again and headed for Strath. We had a quick lunch with Mum and Dad before driving home. Chinese take away and then bed at 7:30!!!

Nasty table

I went shopping at Marion this morning. I had such a successful morning. I got a pressie for my Andy, a pair of jeans for me, a top for me and a Mickey Mouse t-shirt......also for me!!! Oh, and I bought some wrap, a card for Andy and I found an awesome card for my brother....his birthday is in October, but I had to get it, in case I never see it again.

Anyway, so after my successful shop (I am not a shopper, freakish for a woman, I know), I decided to treat myself to a low points Weight Watchers endorsed Muffin Break chocolate and raspberry muffin and a latte. I took my tray and sat down at a table alongside my mountains of shopping bags, I was feeling good......Until I felt someone laughing at me. It was the table. OK, so I was sitting on my own, nobody to talk to, but the stinking table didn't have to rub it in! This is what it said to me....

Get stuffed table!!! At least people who sit with me don't get up and leave when they have finished utilising my services!!! People who sit with me remember my name! Do I remember yours? Do I CARE? Would I recognise you walking down the street? NO because you can't walk, because your just a dumb table! In a Westfield food court none the less! HAH!!! So while you are sitting there silently tonight in your cold food court, no food upon yourself, nobody to talk to, I'll be in my comfy home, with my table who doesn't mock my solitude! Not that I will be in solitude, because I have people who LOVE me! Not like you, crappy table!!!!

I hate that table.
